Breaking the Rules and Delivering Value-added Services
In the last issue of 360 Links, we mentioned that NP360 had sent a delegation to the fourth Asia-Pacific Benchmarking Meeting and visited ropeways and other attractions in Zhangjiajie.
Aiken Tam, Head of Cable Car Operations, shared what he learned from the trip. He thought that the operators of mainland attractions have outstanding business ideas. For instance, the Grand Canyon Glass Bridge and the Glass Plank Road were built to rejuvenate visitors’ experience of the Zhangjiajie canyon. Subsequently, an advertisement for a well-known car brand was filmed on the Glass Bridge to increase the attraction’s media exposure. Operators have also organised many trendy activities to create a buzz and attract media coverage, such as wingsuit flying and Parkour.
Aiken said that we should all learn from the ideas generated on the mainland, which are becoming more and more creative. “To ensure that Ngong Ping 360 remains attractive and to offer our guests a more exciting cable car experience, we should overcome the limitations of our existing business model to avoid falling behind”.
