Hong Kong Market – Yat Tung
The market reopened its doors in 2016 after a major renovation. The new décor is themed around Hong Kong nostalgia – every corner makes lovely snaps. Stepping into the market, it seems like you have travelled back in time and landed in Kowloon Walled City in the 1960s and 70s. Raise your head and a 11 m long paper plane will catch your attention. The paper plane is vividly handmade by local paper-craft masters and is highly vivid. Around the market, road signs and old-school advertisements, signboards, street posters that emit an old world charm can be seen everywhere. You may even spot the Chinese characters written in the style of the graffiti of “King of Kowloon” painted here and there. All the details are packed with elements that remind you of old time Hong Kong. It is the only nostalgia-themed market in Hong Kong.
The five snack shops that were housed in the market before the renovation were moved out of the venue. Now located next to each other, a mini food square is formed to offer inexpensive and quality food.
