As the biggest island of the Hong Kong territory, Lantau houses a good number of entertaining attractions: sunshine and beach, world-class exhibitions or even one-of-its-kind theme parks.
Po Lin Monastery
A 102-hectare plateau in the western-central part of Lantau, Ngong Ping sits high on the uplands some 460 meters above sea level. Monks and priests began settling in this pristine part of Hong Kong in the last century. They live in recluse and practise Buddhism. Today, apart from some original rural settlements, Lantau is mostly known for its religious establishments. Among the many monasteries, retreats and Buddhist halls, none other is more magnificent or sizeable than Po Lin Monastery ??one of the three greatest Buddhist holy grounds in Hong Kong.
You look up to the southwest from Tei Tan square in the middle of the Po Lin Monastery plaza, you see a flight of 260 steps leading to the world's largest outdoor bronze statue of Buddha. The huge statue body is a breathtaking sight, and the kind smile on His face instills a sense of peacefulness. The Giant Buddha sits solemnly atop the 482m Muk Yue Shan. Standing opposite to the monastery, the whole complex is 6,547 m2 in size.
Mui Wo
Also called the “Silver Mine Bay”, Mui Wo was home to two abandoned silver mines. The beautiful flat long beach with fine sand of Silver Mine offers a great barbeque site where offers an ideal place to gather with friends. Mui Wo is only 40 minutes from NP360.
Cheung Sha
The name literally means “Long Beach”. In fact, the 3km long beach is the longest in Hong Kong, and is divided into Upper and Lower Cheung Sha Beach. With accommodation facility available on site, Cheung Sha offers a lot of fun activities. Action lovers would enjoy the windsurfing, sailing, sea kayaking, skim boarding and wakeboarding. Foodies, on the other hand, could relax in a beachside restaurant specialized in Mediterranean and South African food. The fabulous beach is only 30 minutes from NP360.
Tai O Waterway
Sailing on a fisherman boat along the waterways uniquely found in Tai O, visitors can rent a boat and experience the lifestyle of a fisherman in person while sightseeing at the surroundings of the stilted houses on water.
Tai O Cultural and Ecological Integrated Resources Centre
Tai O Cultural and Ecological Integrated Resources Centre portrays a full picture of the bygone Tai O to visitors by showing those outfits, equipment and building materials used by Tai O residents in the past. Small exhibition, eco-tours, and specialty-making classes are regularly held to showcase the culture of Tai O Fishing Village.
Pang Uk (also known as Stilted House)
Fishermen in Tai O dwell in huts built on stilts along both shores. "Pang Uk" (literally shed house) originates from the plain materials used to built it, resembling a theatre shed.
Mangroves
Tai O carries a huge piece of 20-hectare wetland. The mangroves prevent nutrients in the soil from washing away, thus nourishing many wetland species. Mudskippers and fiddler craps can be found and seen at a close gaze.
Salt Field Site
Tai O Salt Field was once the largest salt field in Hong Kong, both in scale and in size. Situated at the junction of saline and fresh water, it produced quality salt of just the right taste, which preserves exceedingly pungent salty fish.
Egretry
Egretry forms part of the Tai O Wetland, where hundreds of egrets stay every winter.
Wing On Street
Wing On Street is a main street in the old district in Tai O. In Qing Dynasty, fishermen (named "Tanka people") used to gather here in the historical stilted houses alongside. Remaining now is plenty of old shops selling featured Tai O specialties Shrimp block, Shrimp paste and Salted fish.
Kat Hing Street
An array of scrumptious Tai O featured food and beverage can be easily found on Kat Hing Street. Besides, stores are decorated with traditional architectural features such as hundred-year wooden door, color-painted gate, ancient bricked wall, which make it to be worthwhile for a visit.
"Tokyo Store"
Located on Kat Hing Street, "Tokyo store" is named by the 70-year-old owner. A set of captivating Seven Dwarfs figures and other handmade drawings are displayed outside the store. The interesting store name and artistic displays, all designed by the store owner, make the store a recent hot spot for travelers.
Kwan Tai Temple
Located on Market Street, Kwan Tai Temple is the most ancient temple in Tai O It was built in Ming Dynasty (in 1488) to honor Kwan Yu, also named as Kwan Tai, who was renowned for his loyal and trustworthy character in the Chinese history. Kwan Tai was a warrior head. People believe evil spirits will be scared off with his presence.
The word "Kwan Tai Temple" and some Chinese style calligraphy are engraved at the entrance of Kwan Tai Temple. The statues of Kwan Tai and some other holy spirits are displayed inside the temple too. The temple has been revitalized several times. Until now, historical items including steles with carved inscriptions, a historical bronze bell, some ritual vessels as well as the knife symbolizing Kwan Tai are still conserved and displayed in the temple.
Tian Hau Temple
Tian Hau Temple, located in Tai O, has been built in Qing Dynasty for almost 300 years and revitalized several times. Tian Hau is a legendary goddess commonly honored by fishermen living in coastal regions of South China Sea. Legends about Tian Hau rescuing and protecting victims at sea have been passed along for generations. Thereafter, fishermen in Tai O and Cheung Chau honor The Goddess of Sea Tian Hau, believing Tian Hau will protect their safety while fishing.

Situated only 35 minutes away from NP360, Shui Hau is the biggest mud-flat in Lantau, which has already been classified as a Coastal Protection Area. Famed as clam diggers’ heaven, Shui Hau is where you can find shops that offer the necessary gear for your clamming adventure when the tide recedes.
AsiaWorld-Expo
Since its opening in December 2005, AsiaWorld-Expo has been standing as a world-class exhibition, conference, convention, concert, sports and entertainment venue in Hong Kong. Easily accessible from NP360 which is only 10 minutes driving distance.
Noah’s Ark
The world’s one and only full-sized replica of Noah’s Ark. Situated in Ma Wan Park, the theme park offers edutainment facilities such as Noah’s Adventureland and Ark Expo for a fun family day out. There is also accommodation available at Noah’s resort for a relaxing holiday. Noah’s Ark is only 25 minutes from NP360.
Hong Kong Disneyland
A world famous theme park that needs no introduction at all. Hong Kong Disneyland is where you can stroll around Main Street USA, Fantasyland, Adventured and Tomorrowland.
