THE COMPANY

Ngong Ping 360 Limited (the Company) is a subsidiary of the MTR Corporation. Its principal business is to operate the Ngong Ping Cable Car and Ngong Ping Village.

Ngong Ping cable car ride is the longest
bi-cable ropeway in Asia


The Ngong Ping Cable Car ride is a visually spectacular 5.7km journey, the longest bi-cable ropeway in Asia.

Cableway route is carefully selected
with minimal disruption to Lantau's ecology


The whole project was developed while keeping minimalising environmental impacts and preserving the North Lantau Country Park in mind.

Once the cableway route was selected, ecological surveys were conducted to identify any rare and protected species. Any such affected species were then relocated under the supervision of a qualified ecologist.

Two unique angle stations where
one of them turns the cable car at 60 degrees


The Ngong Ping Cable Car has 2 unique angle stations. At the Airport Island station, the cable car actually turns a full 60 degrees before resuming its journey.

One of the first companies to use mules and
helicopters to transport construction
materials in Hong Kong


In order to minimize the impact on environment, helicopters and mules were used to transport over 12,000 tonnes of materials in conjunction with Ngong Ping 360's construction.

An environmentally-friendly system is used which
meets international standards


In regard to infrastructure, the cable cars are designed in such a way that noises from Ngong Ping 360's systems and motors are reduced to meet the requirements of the Hong Kong Building Environmental Assessment Method (HK-BEAM) and to minimise noise pollution to nearby residents.

The exterior lighting levels are also maintained to international standards to reduce light pollution.

Crystal Cabin is believed to be
the first of its kind


Crystal Cabin is believed to be the first-ever cable car system to adopt a full-width single piece of glass for a cabin bottom.

Official opening date of Ngong Ping 360


Ngong Ping 360's Official Opening was on 18 September 2006 and was destined to be one of Hong Kong's 'must-see' tourist attractions.

Ngong Ping Village is Hong Kong's First Zero
Plastic Shopping Bag Village.


To care for the environment and provide visitors with a fresh journey and a green shopping experience, Ngong Ping 360 and its tenants have stopped offering plastic shopping bags since 5 June 2010.
